Chakras and Nadis

Are we more than just our physical body? We have hundreds of locations where there is concentrated energy. The seven major energy centres are called Chakras, which in Sanskrit means “wheel”. As well as a Chakra system, we also have a Nadi system and both systems assist us in how we see our world and receive, process and transmit life energies. They have a direct link to the attitudes and beliefs that we form towards our world and environment. Our senses too are extensions of our Chakra system. The energy created from our emotions runs through the Chakras to and is distributed to our organs, tissue and cells.

According to Alice Bailey in her Blue Book series * – “the Chakras exert the primary force upon the evolution of the soul. The Chakra centres are both affected and disabused by consciousness.” In other words the Chakras correspond to specific aspects of consciousness and have their own characteristics and functions.

The Chakra system provides a doorway to our consciousness. Simply put, they act as stepping-stones from one form to a lower form**.

We have seven major Chakras, which are as follows:

  • Base Root or Muladhera – governs the will to live and planted firmly to the ground – colour red – at mid body groin.
  • Sacral or Svadhisthana – governs relationships, sexuality, lust and boundaries – colour orange – 3cm below belly button mid-body.
  • Solar Plexus or Manipura – Governs drive, power and desires and wants – colour yellow – belly button.
  • Heart or Anahata – governs love, goodwill and embracing wholeheartedness – colour green – between breasts.
  • Throat or Visuddha – Governs creative expression – colour blue – mid-body throat.
  • Brow or Ajna – Governs insight – colour indigo – middle forehead.
  • Crown or Sahasara- governs higher consciousness and receptivity and giving – colour magenta to violet – top middle of head.

We also have additional Chakras, which are:

  • Earth minor – governs bonding and is dark brown. This is 20cm below your feet.
  • Feet – governs the flow of body energy from physical to outer and is the colour mid-brown.
  • Behind Knee (sub base) – governs strength of purpose and pain of the upper body and is the colour maroon.
  • Hand – governs creativity and learning and is the colour lemon yellow.
  • Thymus – governs the immune system and is the colour turquoise.
  • Causal – governs communication with your spirit and is the colour silver. This is at the back and top of your head.
  • Soul – governs the force of inspiration and is pearl colour. This is 8cm above your head.
  • Divine -governs your link to God and is gold.

In combination with the Chakras, we also have a network of 72,000 Nadis, which are etheric lines of matter. These form an etheric web (a web that we cannot see with our eyes) in our etheric body (the template for your physical body). The etheric web and etheric body is composed entirely of lines of force and of points where lines cross each other to form energy centres.

When Nadis cross 49 times – the cross point constitutes a major Chakra.

When Nadis cross 21 times – the cross point constitutes a minor Chakra.

When Nadis cross 14 times – the cross point constitutes a major acupuncture point

When Nadis cross 7 times – the cross point constitutes a minor acupuncture point.

The Nadi System distributes the subtle energies of the Chakra system.

The Chakra and Nadi systems are closely linked with our hormones through our Endocrine system. A good example of this is that our hypothalamus is affected by how we are feeling emotionally. Seeing as the hypothalamus is the master gland it then affects all other glands and consequently our hormones.

As well as each Chakra having a governing concept and colour, each Chakra has a mantra, 7-element relationship, 5-element relationship, sound, tone, maintenance exercise, group of hormones that it regulates, symptoms, 7-element relationship and 5 element relationship and associated crystals. All of us have miasms, which are particular symptoms that keep re-showing as we progress through our karmic lives. Understanding our Chakras can assist us in unplugging from these miasms and patterns. When you are able to change your thoughts and consciousness this also changes the amount of pranhic energy that you receive into your Chakras. The pranha from the Chakras, helps the organization and stability of the etheric body..

Techniques to maintain and activate your Chakras can be done as a tool to understanding yourself and thus make good choices and decisions. Types of imbalances in the Chakra system can manifest as: trauma, dependency, cry for help, overwhelmed, suppressed emotions and a yin and yang imbalance.

Here are a few of the techniques:

  • Meditate on manifesting gratitude, unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness and creativity.
  • Use the power of sound vibrations to heal.
  • Be honest and show integrity in everything that you do.
  • Eat a rich colourful array of fresh foods.
  • Help others as the receiving is in the giving.
  • Place quartz crystals around your home and even place one in your glass of water.
  • Use your imagination and affirmations and visualisations for positive outcomes.
  • Walk barefoot on the ground whenever possible.
  • Hug a tree.
  • Surround yourself with nature.
  • Meditate.
  • Practice yoga.
  • Allow time for mindfulness of your breath.
  • Do the associated Chakra exercise:
    • Base – try to push your feet into the ground.
    • Sacral – do a pelvic rock.
    • Solar Plexus – pretend to chop wood.
    • Heart – arch your body backwards and stretch open your lungs.
    • Throat – sound out each of these: o, u, a, ay, ee, mm, ng.
    • Brow – sit comfortably and focus on the colours of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
    • Crown – close your eyes and observe your thoughts. Follow that thought back and back and back until there is empty space. Repeat this process with each new thought.

In answer to the question; YES we are much more than our physical body!
